Crash Course in Twitter Chats: Online Chats Give You More Than Just a Discussion

TweetChats WAHM Bloggers

TweetChats WAHM Bloggers What are Twitter Chats?

Twitter Chats or Tweet Chats are scheduled online discussions on Twitter.  The organizer will usually ask questions and an expert in a particular field will answer the questions and many times the audience will also.  They are usually about an hour in length.  And vary in participation and occupancy according to the popularity of the chat.  They also vary in topic, there is one for everybody on Twitter.

Tweet Chats are only possible because of the use of the hashtag system set in place by Twitter.  Hashtags, a # and word/phrase that follows, are like categories on Twitter.  When you search for a particular hashtag the tweets containing it will result.    Therefore, in a Tweet Chat every participant must place the chat’s designated hashtag in every tweet to participate.

I will be interchanging the words TWEET CHAT and TWITTER CHAT from now on.

The Roles People Play in Twitter Chats Audience and Participants

They are why the chat occurs.

Video: Using BufferApp to Quote

I recently told you about BufferApp and what a great free service they have going there for tweeting and sharing in general.  Well, I found a trick I totally forgot about when I created that post.

You can quote something from a post simply by highlighting the text.  Watch my super short video to see how and why you should do this.

What do you think?  Do you use BufferApp?

Video Thursdays: Sharing on Twitter with a Personal Touch

“Oh my gawd, like it’s another post about Twitter!”

“If I read one more Twitter tip for bloggers that claims it will get you thousands of new followers and money, I’m gonna punch my computer screen!”

Yes, folks I made a Twitter video.  But I try not to just give you the same stuff everyone else gives on their blogs, I really do try to find new ways of doing things around here.

I absolutely love putting my own personal touches on things, like my little “~Allie” when I comment anywhere.

This video is about 4 minutes of how I personalize the tweets I use to share other people’s posts.  I don’t know if it will bring you thousands of visits.  All I know is that it is fun and I get noticed by the people that I retweet.

Hootsuite for Twitter

Hootsuite has been an indispensable tool in my social media toolbox since 2010.

I love Hootsuite.

It is first on my bookmark toolbar.

I use it everyday for Twitter.

I tweet.  I retweet. I reply.  I schedule tweets. All using Hootsuite.

I build lists.  I save my lists as streams in Hootsuite.

Hootsuite for Twitter

I check for retweets and direct messages to me.

I connect.  I follow.  And sometimes unfollow.

And all on one screen.

It saves me time.

Do you use Hootsuite?

If not, how do you manage your Twitter streams?

Buffer: Scheduling Tweets Like a Super Star

I’m all about scheduling and automation when I can.  The trick is to ALWAYS follow up.

Today I have a video about BufferApp.  The amazing FREE tool that lets you schedule tweets throughout the day. Awesome, right?

I tried BufferApp months ago because other bloggers were suggesting it but at the time I did not find the advantage to using it since I could schedule tweets with Hootsuite.  So I stopped.  But last week in a webinar with Corbett Barr I found out what amazing tricks you can do with this Twitter Application.  Thank you Corbett!

So now I schedule out my tweets with both BufferApp and Hootsuite for maximum Twitter exposure and usage.

Twitter, My Twitter Tool Box One Year In the Making

TWITTER WEEK ON RWAHM (Originally scheduled for September 8, 2011 but something went wrong and it didn’t go.)

Oh my gosh! After yesterday’s post I need to have a short and simple session today.  I rarely write over 800 words per post and that one came to over 1200.  For a simple platform, Twitter needs a lot of explaining!

Twitter Tools and Me

I have been blogging for about a year now and on Twitter a little longer, I think.  It says August 2010 on my Twitter account and my first (embarrassing) post was September 2010.

Over that span I have researched and tried many Twitter tools.  When I say Twitter Tools I mean services, plugins, and apps that make my Twitter experience more valuable (and easy at times.)

Twitter Tools I Love and You Would Too
